North Yorkshire County Council planning committee has refused planning permission for the NEW Middleton Lodge quarry - the decision of the committee was unanimous. We must be alive to the possibility that Sherburn Stone Ltd may well be considering an appeal against the decision. Rest assured we will be monitoring matters very closely and will be ready to continue the battle against this potential 'blot on the landscape'.

In fairness to the applicants we do not oppose the proposed buildings improvements to Middleton Lodge and wish them well in that respect, but there are other more relevant commercial funding avenues open for such ventures than an unnecessary and unwanted NEW quarry on our doorstep. An application for the installation of a concrete batching plant has been presented to the District Council Planning Department - we intend to oppose this - See News page.
