30 June 2009: North Yorkshire County Council Planning Committee agreed unanimously to Call In (decline) the application for the proposed 'NEW' quarry on land adjoining Middleton Lodge.
The applicant may decide to appeal against that decision - it is important that we continue to treat this as a threat to destroy an important part of our local environment and we should be prepared to continue the to uphold our case for non-approval, should it prove necessary.

CONCRETE BATCHING PLANT (Sherburn Stone), Barton Services: We recently learnt that this application has been submitted to Richmondshire District Council Planning Department for consideration. Such a plant will mean increased traffic flows, potential health hazards and more dust.
